Imagine… getting out of the uniform with a HUGE vision, DEEP hunger to succeed, & carrying a RELENTLESS worth ethic that would put even Gary Vaynerchuk to SHAME! Now, imagine EXHAUSTING all of it into multiple industries and career paths. This was my journey and is most Ambitious VETS experiences when getting out and striving to live a meaningful life out of the uniform!
ALL WE SEEK IS THAT FEELING OF FULFILLMENT WE FELT WHILE WEARING THE UNIFORM!
Fundamentally to our core we have DISCIPLINE, ATTENTION DETAIL, STRATEGIC EXECUTION, AND EXTREME FORTITUDE AND GRIT!
We just get lost in discovering how to implement it out of the uniform. So, in Step 4 in building a personal brand that monetizes- we will be focusing on developing your BIG 3 skills to develop after the fact of discovering your next problem to solve as mentioned in step 3 of this blog series. You need to uncover your CORE SKILLS to develop in your pursuit to mastering the process and positioning yourself as the expert.
Most veterans I coach or train right now, I tell them to treat themselves as a business! Think of yourself as Nike. Nike has a core branding message, strategy in getting in front of the right people to make money, & has a great nurturing strategy to stay in front of you to maintain their DOMINATE POSITIONING!
This should be your approach as well.
In my case, I found my passion for sales quickly when getting out of the Marine Corps, I just loved the persuasion part and the ability to influence people’s behavior with EFFECTIVE COMMUNICATION BOTH VERBALLY AND NON-VERABALLY. When establishing myself in my career in sales I choose to focus on these three skillsets to develop:
- Communication
- Emotional Intelligence
- Time Management
The problem I was solving was: my own competency in my trade but also by me effectively selling the product in my first sales job I was helping people take the first steps in creating a physique they loved!
See how this is very systematic?? I have found that everything in life is. Once you have invested enough time into something it become intuitive and thats how you begin to create traction and credibility VERY QUICKLY!
However, lets not get ahead of ourselves.. right now, I want you to uncover the BIG 3 SKILLS you need to develop in being the person KNOWN FOR SOLVING THE PROBLEM YOU DESIRE TO PROVIDE A SOLUTION TO.
Step 5 will be around how to target customers, companies, hiring managers, etc in implementing these skillsets. Stay tuned!
